Abstract:

Water insecurity fuels wars and famines all over the globe, while water pollution and shortages represent long-term economic risks to both developing and rich countries. Water is one of the top three environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues for institutional investors worldwide, according to the 2019 RBC Global Asset Management Responsible Investment Survey. A number of projects have been implemented to ensure a sustainable source and flow of water for the coming generations. Organisations today believe water to be a material issue in their operation and hence focus on making water infrastructure of India to be more efficient and sustainable. This project was undertaken to understand the recent initiatives implemented to improve water infrastructure in India and to also understand various industries and companies inclination towards achieving a more sustainable business. This study has helped in identifying the various schemes and policies launched by the Government of India, international partnerships and technological advancements that are aimed at building an efficient water infrastructure in the country. As sustainability reporting becomes mandatory from the financial year 2022-23, companies would be investing more resources to build a more sustainable organisation. This study also focuses on identifying potential accounts that would be interested in ESG services offered by Envint.
