Tactical Urbanism refers to an approach to neighborhood building and activation using short-term, low-cost, and scalable interventions and policies. The term is commonly used in community building. It stems directly from the term “tactical”. The study addresses tactical interventions at the site of Sadar Bazaar, is a wholesale market in the Roshan Pura locality of the city of Gurugram. Through the study the TU approach is used for testing a pilot based on considering issues and challenges of the site and its people, all derived from discussions and consultations, and site observation. The study also aims to assess measureable impacts of the temporary interventions relates its value in the context of Liveability in Indian cities. The method for achieving this was done by using literature reviewed to establish background as well as to arrive at assessment methods. Data was collected both before and after the test case from interactions and consultations with officials, on the field to a major extent, and through extensive engagement with the stakeholders, and with the people. Documentation played a major role as recorded material, especially through video documentation and photographs, vector drawings, etc. Through the course of the study, effective interventions and representation of the same were delivered to stakeholders, and a case was built for the idea and approach of TU through assessments.
