Abstract:

Water is a critical form of resource to human exist stance and vital part of the ecosystem. Increasing demands leading to a systematic approach of supply, a proper distribution system to supply water sustainably to the end users from the main source of supply. There are various components involved in the complete distribution system, and the growing population has led to improvising the conventional system of maintenance and operation. As due to industrialization and development the complete dynamics of water consumption has changed. Therefore, there is an immediate need for a transition from regular supply system and management to a smart water management technique. With increasing demands and changing consumption patterns is leading to rising problems like losses and Non-Revenue Water values. This definitely impacts the sustainability factor of the network overall, effecting the delivery mechanisms. For maintaining the conveyance system properly, it is very important to perform regular inspections. On a ground level it becomes difficult to perform this regularly, therefore modelling and analysis makes it even more affordable and efficient process. Open domain software like EPANET and JAL TANTRA can be widely used to perform simulation and optimization. These are free to use and have good data transparency. The data generated through this software can be easily be shared and accessed by people. It doesn’t only help in providing high efficiency results but also makes people more accountable towards their water consumption and usage. This can be categorised as a set of integrated approach to enhance the impact of implementation of policies and community participation.
