Abstract:

PPAP Automotive works on Linear model of product manufacturing where we “take-make-dispose” the raw material. As the demand of automobile has doubled in in the last decade and is predicted to increase in coming years the company is making a shift towards circular economy model. Plastic being the main component in the manufacturing process makes it important to bring circular economy concept in the production process as it facilitates waste elimination and reduce virgin raw material demand. With the rising demanding of automobile, the company behold responsibility to work for environmental, social and economic impact. “Waste” for one can be envisioned as raw material for other. To bring it into practice the company is moving from traditional – lean – green – sustainable manufacturing. Circular economy model is an emerging concept emerging though it has gained momentary attention as it provides technological perspective for effective waste elimination. This thesis works on the principles of sustainable manufacturing and provides technological aspect to ensure the creation of a circular economy. It also focuses on Value stream mapping, 3R concept of waste elimination process and envision technological elements that helps achieve economic growth, environmental protection and societal benefits.
