Abstract:

The air that we breathe has a combination of solid and liquid materials, gases and particle debris. Some of them have their origin from natural sources, while others have been the results of activities of homo sapiens like driving of vehicles, home bound activities, industries, which have a remarkable carbon footprint. “When the air that includes toxic substances in such amounts to endanger the comfort and health of humans and animals, as well as damage flora and fauna, this very precisely is referred to as air pollution. The current study aims to look into Policy Response Instruments, Legislations, and Authorities that regulate air pollution at the national and regional levels, as well as Sources of Pollutants and Emissions, also tries to investigate the seasonal variations in levels of pollution in Gurugram for two years(2018-20), besides it also propose strategies to reduce air pollution in Gurugram in conjunction with the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) and existing infrastructure in the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) to combat air pollution. Smog, which is a mixture of smoke and fog during winters and caused by air pollution, shows a substantial negative impact on health of people, particularly in the Delhi NCR. Smog is typically a chemical combination of gases and particles, having main components ozone (O3) and particulate matter”. Smog, in the past has been directly linked to many early deaths every year throughout the globe. Smog causes difficulties in the environment, particularly it reduces vision during winter months. Many environmental issues have risen in developing nations due to haphazard or poor planning and monitoring. Environment related concerns, which have been frequently connected with development, have complicated the conditions in such nations and economies world-wide throughout the globe. “Air pollution in urban areas significantly owes to the increased traffic on ill-planed roads, act as a catalyst to other planning failure results like inadequate sanitary facilities to name one of them in urban areas.”.
