Abstract: This thesis work comprises of two different tasks. The first task was to carry out
the technical and financial analysis of 5 solar PV project for Oswal Woollen
Mills Pvt. Ltd. from concept to commissioning and preparation of the detailed
project report on the basis of results obtained. It is one of the project selected
under first phase of the National Solar Mission.
The technical analysis was carried out by comparison of different solar
photovoltaic technologies based on energy generation and actual site conditions.
The technical analysis was carried out by actual site visits and then comparing
the results using the PVsyst and PVsol software. The financial analysis was
carried out by cash flow analysis for different technology options available for
the proposed site and then comparing the results on the basis of total cost of the
plant, equity IRR and project IRR. The financial analysis was done on MS- excel.
The detailed project report prepared consists of capacity selection, location &
satellite image of plant site, site infrastructure, description & comparison of
solar PV technologies, plant facilities, proposed site layout, manpower
requirement, capital costs, operating costs, project implementation and financial
appraisal.
The second task was to carry out the research on reliability/performance
analysis of T0 tracking system manufactured by SunPower. The aim of the
research was to compare the SunPower’s trackers with the fixed tilt
configurations on the basis of energy production, land use, auxiliary
consumption, total cost of the plant and return on investment.
