Load analysis is the starting point for the development of DSM interventions for the utility. The Load Research study supports DSM activities by presenting supporting data on user load profiles that are helpful in designing and evaluating DSM plans. Such DSM policies allow the utility to control the system loads by encouraging customers to adjust their usage in order to reduce the system peak and maximize off-peak energy use (TERI, 2019). In view of this, the purpose of this project is to prepare the DSM Action Plan for the utility of one of the North-Eastern States viz. Manipur (MSPDCL) and for one of the utility/DISCOMS of Karnataka i.e. BESCOM, where it has been mainly focused on the approved field of its suppliers based on a load research study with the overall objective of implementing DSM activities. So, the research consists of the design of the DSM Action Plan for the two mentioned DISCOMS. The research was based on a thorough examination of electricity use in the various residential/domestic, commercial, agricultural, and industrial categories. Load work was carried out and analysis of the system and feeder level was performed for MSPDCL and only system level was performed for BESCOM. As a result, the DSM action plan was introduced that involves the replacement of energy-efficient equipment, process improvement, operational efficiency, etc.
