Abstract:

Rooftop Solar Sector is playing a great role for power scenario transformation towards decentralisation power generation. Many efforts are being taken globally to increase the uptake of solar rooftop deployment because of scarcity of land resources and an urge to increase energy security. The solar rooftop target is 40 GW for India but market’s state is not as it should be. The grid parity has been reached for the commercial and industrial consumers and many efforts are being taken to make it attractive for residential consumers as well.

This study attempts to identify drivers and barriers for the growth of rooftop sector in India. The net metering analysis has been done in nine progressive states in India. The study also tries to find the impact analysis of Sristi scheme and find the financial feasibility of rooftop solar pv systems for residential consumers in 8 states under the phase 2 scheme (Sristi Scheme) by mnre and develops a questionnaire for all stakeholders (consumers, developers and discoms) with an objective to understand the major challenges being faced by all stakeholders in the scale up of solar rooftop deployment under the new scheme. The study also identifies drivers and barriers for the growyh of solar rooftop sector especially for the residential consumers.
