Abstract:

According to the WHO report, road injuries and fatalities happen mostly in developing countries. Education is probably the best possible solutions for improving human response to gain road safety and also it helps in reducing the injuries and death rate. CRSE program is one of its own type of programs concerned with raising awareness on road safety and also helping children behave safely, as a pedestrian, a cyclist, a motorized passenger, and as passer-by as well. This research work is based on the impact assessment of “Child Road Safety '' primarily targeted on students and secondary target on parents and teachers who can help make children aware about the criticality of road safety and its associated risk. The Child Road Safety Program is an activity-based program that aims to generate understanding of road safety related traffic rules, its methods and importance. It is being run in schools of Jaipur city with the help of Johnson & Johnson, Fleet Forum, and UPS Foundation along with the SIDART organization. The objective of the current research work was to compare the knowledge, attitude, behavior, and the responsibility of two groups of parents and teachers. First group (CRSE group) comprises of parents and teachers whose children are participating in the CRSE program and the other, whose children are not (non-CRSE group) participating. An online survey and telephonic interview was conducted on a sample of 75- parents and 8- teachers of CRSE group and 75-parents, 11-teachers of non-CRSE group. The survey result showed that children inherit more if they see their parents following the rules on the road, hence educating their parents will have significantly impact on road safety awareness.
