This paper discusses the recent changes in one of the oldest farmlands of the country- Cauvery delta. Paddy farming here traces its history back to almost two millennia. In this rapidly changing modern world, even farming in the delta has taken a new turn. The paper explores through some of these variables causing the land-use changes. Further, it looks into the adaptive strategies of farmers to continue their traditional farming through efficient tank management. This paper also analyses the governance of two different storage tanks within the delta using the Institutional Analysis and Development framework (Ostrom, 2010). Results imply that attributes of the community which shape the interaction between different participants are the crucial factor for collective action
