As the demand for electricity is increasing day by day, there is a need for reliability and security of the grid. This can be achieved using artificial intelligence techniques. Due to the complex nature of the grid, it becomes very complicated to map the demand pattern. Load scheduling helps in easing out the congestion in the transmission line and also in the operation of the power system. Accurate forecasting helps in savings in the operation and maintenance cost, increase in the reliability of the power supply system and providing precise decisions for future development. Thus artificial intelligence technique has gained prominence in reduction of estimation errors. The main aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive study, review and analyse the uses and performance of load forecasting in the current energy sector scenario for Delhi region.
