Abstract:

The current study's motivation is the opportunities and challenges in municipal solid waste management (MSWM) in urban India. Urbanization contributes to enhanced solid municipal waste (MSW) generation and unscientific handling of MSW damages the urban environment and poses health risks. Also reported is the current status of MSWM in India's states and major cities. Also discussed are the essential conditions for optimal harnessing benefits from the possibilities of public private partnership and its challenges and the unnoticeable role of rag - pickers. The study concludes that the installation of decentralized solid waste treatment units in metropolitan cities / towns and the development of the formal recycling sector are the hourly needs in developing countries such as India Using the stakeholder and Pestel analysis for the study and finding the different factors those impact the WTE plant. In this paper have done the cross-country analysis and find the gap in WTE in terms of technology, economical and legal aspects and see the implication on WTE plant in Meerut plants.
