Abstract:

Load flow analysis a study to find out the path followed by the flow of power to reach its target i.e. load from its generating point i.e. power stations. It allows studying the present existing conditions of the network i.e. generating stations, transmissions line, busbars e.t.c. Through the study of load flow, the value of the reactive power, phase angle, current, active power, voltage and can be known. It also informs about the fault in the network which can be solved like overloading, total loss, load loss, etc.

Through analyzing the present existing infrastructure the improvement in the network can be done or if there is any gap between the demand and supply of the power then the planning of implementing of additions of the new generating stations can be done through the study of power/ load flow analysis.

In this report the load or power flow study of the Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands have done by studying the present existing network and by making the different cases, and through analysis it was found that there are two different cases where the network is performing the best, but when the simulations result and actual conditions were compared it was found that there is a gap between the simulation generating capacity and actual derated capacity of the power generating stations. To fulfill this gap this simulations will give a scope of implementing or adding the new generating stations in the existing network.

As we know that renewable energy is the need of an hour, also the islands have to depend on the main-lands for diesel if they generate power through diesel generators which make there power generations more expensive. So, adding the renewable energy sources is the best pathway for the Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Implementing renewable energy step by step at each of there network will also allow creating the path way to phase out the diesel generators from the Islands.
