Managing Solid Waste in India is one of the biggest challenges especially in 21st century. This is due to the fact that municipalities lack resources for managing solid waste that is generated within their vicinity. But with the introduction of Swachh Bharat Mission concepts such as Segregation of waste at source, charging of user fee and to provide polluters pay principle has been outlined. Solid Waste Management rules, government is focusing upon combating the issues and challenges of Solid Waste Management. Through various researches, it was identified that there is no mechanism of financing Municipal Solid waste and due to which municipalities aren’t capable of completing segregation at source, collection, transportation and disposal of solid waste. Also, there are various municipalities which have funds from numerous sources but devolution of funds has been a critical issue for the municipalities. Through research a model has been developed to make financing of municipal solid waste in India. An illustration for East Delhi Municipal Corporation has been elucidated in the research.
