Abstract:

China and India are among the top-emitters of GHG emissions. After depending on traditional ways to cut down emissions China’s National ETS was launched in December 2017. India also has schemes for dealing with emission reduction but is far different from the ETS of China. Article 6 of Paris Agreement deals basically in cooperative mechanisms for increasing the chances of meeting the targets set by the countries and together link carbon markets to make it easier to achieve the NDC targets. Therefore, by comparing the studies based on market mechanism related to China and India it is concluded that their design differs at various parameters thus, stability among the markets as well the regulatory support by the government might help in linking not just the domestic market but also the global market.
