In India, population is rising every another day. Due to the lifestyle changes and increased size of population waste generation of city is increasing too. Despite such strong waste management rules & regulations in our country we still face a lot of problems in management of our waste. Currently, we observe a strong recycling chain in India for most of the recyclables (like PET bottles, paper, cardboard, metals) but there is no recycling of Used beverage carton (Ubc) happening till now. Tetrapak has been working towards building strong networks & coordination among the various stakeholders in the recycling chain to make them aware about value attached with Tetrapak ubc. Tetrapak is connected with NGOs in every city that help create awareness among the various actors & stakeholders. The main aim of conducting this study is to investigate and find out collection & recycling practices of ubc in different cities and to understand the actual quantum which is procured and retrieved by waste dealers. Recycling & value chain of different cities is studied. This study will entirely help us in understanding if ubc is getting recycled or it ends up at landfill. This would further help tetrapak in understanding recycling market in India so they could take further steps in upscaling their efforts for collection & recycling in markets. In this research, an attempt is made for understanding the fate of ubc using recycling chain and value chain would help us in understanding beverage cartons end products after the laminates are separated.
