Abstract:

This report provides an insight into the analysis and design of water supply and sewerage systems and gives an overview of the strategies employed to obtain the best possible solution for these projects. Analysis and design of water supply/sewerage systems involved the preparation of desk report, analysis of base map, contour plan and existing water supply plans, this followed by population forecasting, calculation of per capita water requirement and waste water generation etc. Requirement of site knowledge is of paramount importance for this. The outcome of this project will be helpful in guiding the agencies to design network utilizing the principle of gravity flow and least use of pumps for both water supply and sewerage system. LOOP, BRANCH, SEWER and AutoCAD software were used to analyze the designs and to arrive at the best possible design. Cost of every design has been compared. The most cost effective solution meeting all the design criteria is chosen as the optimal solution for the given problem. Laying new network lines assisted by monitoring old network lines is the best option for any case. This project also analyses the rehabilitation of the existing network for the projects of United Kingdom which emphasizes also on legal and social issues.
