Abstract: This paper determines the benefits: organization, economic, social and environmental of forest certification (UPFC) and to understand the challenges faced by certified exporters FSC CoC in the purchase of UPFC certified timber. On February 18, 2015, 3, 49,286 ha of Uttar Pradesh forests have been certified FSC certified against the FSC forest management standard in 13 forest divisions containing plantations of 41 species in 2015 and now 42 forest divisions are certified. Forest certification is a non-regulatory tool based on the market designed to differentiate sustainably managed forest products and promote responsible forest management. Several evolved schemes include - Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Forest Certification Approval Program (PEFC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), etc. Forest Certification has brought some tangible differences in forest management practices at UPFC. The process has shown positive effects in the environmental, social and managerial aspects. The economic benefits have not yet been analyzed. This paper tries to understand the challenges faced by exporters who are certified FSC CoC, in the purchase of wood certified by UPFC. Use of research instruments such as interviews of data of interested parties, clients and forest officers, etc.
