Abstract: With global warming in the spotlight, many public and private organizations across the world are pondering upon to find out some alternative solutions with their everyday operations to tackle the issue. Many industries now realize the impact rising surface temperatures have on all aspects of life, but whether they have a strategy to deal with it while addressing to the demands of the market is another matter. Naturally enough, companies that use a lot of energy tend to be very hostile towards the environment. Owing to the fact that the companies strive hard to be always being ahead in competition with one another, they want to take this as an opportunity to serve the market and also be conscious towards the environment. Since the consumers are aware of the global concerns like increasing GHG emissions and global warming, they would want to do business with these “environmentally responsible companies”. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to global integration, commitment to society and competitiveness of industry. Green projects that the CII wants the Indian industries to focus on include Waste Management, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Material Conservation, Water conservation, etc, just to improve their environmental performance and reduce costs, thereby enabling the companies to improve business competitiveness and sustainability.

The purpose of this major project is to have a real industry exposure, see how the energy demand varies with the increase in production and what does industry thinks about sustainability. As a profit making entity how solar energy can be promoted and which model will be best suited? The goal is to give valuable contribution to make the company’s green initiative a success in reference to Green Company Rating System given by Confederation of Indian Industries.
