Abstract: In Air to PCM heat exchanger, PCM have in general low thermal conductivity in other hand
air lower specific heat capacity
/density, therefore the heat exchanger design is very
important to fulfil the application requirements and desirable to have larger heat transfer
area and increase the thermal conductivity material
.
Geometries of selected exchanger on
enhancing the heat transfer area by discretizing the PCM into elements
(in Tubular
Exchanger
.)
and discretizing flow
(distributed flow) through PCM
(in Compact Exchanger).
Obtained results indicatively mark that high dense latent energy flow
(during discharge) for
shorter span in tubular exchanger
(due to axial heat gain and inward moving boundary of
PCM
)
as in the case of compact heat exchanger, latent heat recover was consistent due
discretization of moving boundary, internal fins and micro
-channeling of flow (Nu >3).
Compact heat exchanger geometry is shown the multiple effects of heat exchanging process
