Abstract: WHAT IS BIOTECHNOLOGY ?
Biotechnology emerged from the arena of Zymotechnology or zymurgy, which started as a
look for a superior comprehension of mechanical aging, especially brew (beer). Brew was a
vital mechanical, and not simply social, product. In late nineteenth century Germany,
preparing contributed as much to the gross national item as steel, and duties on liquor turned
out to be huge wellsprings of income to the administration. In the 1860s, academic
establishments and lucrative consultancies were committed to the innovation of preparing.
The most well-known, was the private Carlsberg Foundation, established in 1875, which
utilized Emil Christian Hansen, who spearheaded the unadulterated yeast handle for the solid
generation of steady brew. Less notable were private consultancies that prompted the
blending business. One of these, the Zymotez Organization, was set up in Chicago by the
German-conceived scientific expert John Ewald Siebel. So therefore Biotechnology appeared
to be the answer for real social issues, including world craving and vitality emergencies. In
the 1960s, radical measures would be expected to meet world starvation, and biotechnology
appeared to give an answer. Be that as it may, the arrangements turned out to be excessively
costly and socially unsuitable, and explaining world yearning through SCP nourishment was
expelled. In the 1970s, the sustenance emergency was prevailing by the vitality emergency,
and here as well, biotechnology appeared to give an answer. In any case, at the end of the
day, costs demonstrated restrictive as oil costs drooped in the 1980s. In this way, by and by,
the ramifications of biotechnology were not completely acknowledged in these
circumstances. Be that as it may, this would soon change with the ascent of hereditary
designing .
Therefore this paper will be discussing about the biotechnology as a whole and how its
different aspects such as genetic engineering in modification foods drugs etc. could benefit
the world at large as well as a comparative study between the biotechnology regulatory
framework of India and the US will be done therefore a focus will be put on whether
biotechnology is assisting India that is whether is it of any help in the growth of the society
socially , economically as well as whether is it helping in sustainable development also a risk
assessment of biotechnology will be done and will be measured . based on all these various
analysis a conclusion will be derived.
