Abstract: The building sector contributes nearly around 30% to the global carbon emission count.
Thus, it stands necessary to develop carbon neutral buildings for cutting down on the
emission pattern, in response to climate change globally. The very essence of this project
work was for a proposed manufacturing industrial park for the real estate developers of the
Mahindra Group, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited. The goal of the study was to
develop a carbon neutrality strategic plan for the industrial hub. This was done upon
establishing a baseline for the resource consumption for the industrial park on the basis of
which estimation was made for the operational carbon emission, which the plant will have,
once it attains its full occupancy, projected to be nearly 17000. The study was done keeping
in mind that the development of the park is yet to be started, thus there will be a higher pace
of establishing the strategies to achieve net-neutrality. The focused impact sector for the
study chosen were the Energy Sector, Water Sector and the Transport Sector. As a part of
recommendation, it is suggested to address a material sector as a future scope of work,
because in the manufacturing settlement, materials is one sole procurement demand sector,
there by adding up to the carbon emissions. The calculation of the projected carbon
emission for this proposed plant was done on the Excel Spreadsheet Calculations. It was
observed that the for the proposed industrial plant of 296.01 acres the baseline carbon
emission for the various resources was suggested to be 67194.27 tCO2 eq. (Energy),
3256.11tCO2eq. (Waste), 1184.04 tCO2 eq. (Water Supply), and 10064.34 tCO2 eq.
(Transport). These are to be the baseline carbon emissions and upon the implementation of
the various strategies in the report it can help in to the reduction of the baseline emissions,
thereby helping in achieving a climate positive impact for the proposed industrial clusters.
For the future scope of work, target and goal setting has to be done for the efficient results,
and also, it shall be in conjugation with the developers.
