Abstract: The study delved into the concept of loss and damages due to climate change, which
are increasingly becoming a part of the climate change dialogue. The creation of institutions
worldwide dealing specifically with the capacity building and resilience to such losses and
damages puts India in a unique position. As a developing country with a large population under
risk of displacement, poverty and malnutrition as well as a disaster prone landmass that
exacerbates these conditions if not dealt properly, India is also amongst the foremost developing
countries in the climate change dialogue. India will, given its position vis-Ã -vis climate change
risks to its people and the international conversation, eventually adopt and implement a
framework for loss and damages accruing from climate change impacts.
