Abstract: The following study has tried to establish the health and nutrition status of children aged zero to five years old, in three villages of drought hit Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
Questionnaire involving socio-economic status, household food security and nutritional status of the child with the help of food frequency has been used. Anthropometric measurements have been analyzed from January 2013 to January 2016 to assess child growth.
This study shows that due to failure of agriculture that food security of the household has been threatened. It has resulted in decrease in consumption of green and leafy vegetables, fruits and other food items. Percentage of children who are underweight and stunted is still very high in the region.
