Abstract: While there is a lot going on at the national and state levels in terms of climate change
research and policy – the translation into action at the grassroots level is lacking. Currently –
the role of implementing adaptation action on the ground is being undertaken through a few
initiatives and interface organisations. Also if we look at education system in our country,
existing courses are unchallenging, and most teachers are unable to sensitise students to the
nuances of issues, or to the specialised tools and approaches in this cross-disciplinary area of
study. Since climate change impacts may have serious repercussions on development
(particularly in rural areas), it is therefore necessary that adaptation measures are integrated
into the rural development strategy and planning, specifically in areas where communities are
most vulnerable as to minimize the cost of climate change impacts. Adaptation practices that
aim to build the resilience and coping capacity of vulnerable people from the adverse impacts
of climate change appear to be the most realistic option to address the climate change
problem
With this background the project ''CAPTURING EVIDENCES OF CLIMATE CHANGE
IMPACT IN SINDROT VILLAGE, VADODARA AND DESIGNING COMMUNICATION
STRATEGIES FOR STAKEHOLDERS!'' aims at collecting Climate change evidences from
the local region and designing interactive communication tools according to the selected
target group. The project envisages to bridge the gap between scientific studies and the
stakeholders at grass root level taking the ''lab to practice'' approach.
