Abstract: With state and central policies providing a conducive regulatory environment for solar energy to
be harnessed, SunAlpha Energy was formed to energize India through rooftop solar power. With
constant support and advisory from SunAlpha’s founders’ extended family, SunAlpha Energy
Pvt. Ltd. came into being on 6th May, 2015.
SunAlpha was formed to provide solar leasing solutions so as to combat the concern of rising
electricity prices across India. This can only be achieved providing a no cost customized end-toend
solar energy solution. No cost as the solar plants are expensive to purchase and install,
customized as every consumer has a unique rooftop and a unique need and an end-to-end solution
as a service always flourishes if it’s differentiated according to porter’s competitive advantage
model. 1
The differentiation from all other solar energy developers and installers is an end-to-end service
offering being offered by SunAlpha. Thus it was logical to do business development as this is the
need of the hour.
Not every state has a conducive environment to make the solar leasing model feasible hence only
a select few states have been covered under this project. Also this project has been heavily reliant
on one to one discussions between two people thus documenting everything has been difficult
but the project does not represents any parties’ individual views and tries to cover all aspects
possible under the project title.
