Abstract: Education is a fundamental human right and plays an important role in achieving economic growth, increasing income, and sustaining a healthy society. Education helps in improving lives, breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring that all people have control over their destiny. Providing education to the low income community has been a big challenge for the Indian government. There have been many initiatives taken by the government but they are not completely successful in their goals. Affordable Private Schools have been very active in providing education to the low income communities. This study aims at understanding the ground realities of the APS by interviewing the principals of various APS and few policy experts from the industry. The sample of schools is from the eastern part of Delhi, the capital state of India. This study discusses about the various challenges APS have been facing in providing quality education to the children belonging to the low income communities. How they are fighting those challenges by coming up with innovative ideas and out of the box thinking. So many simple efforts can make huge difference in the field of education and the effective collaboration of the educational bodies benefit all. Interviewees expressed the kind of government support they need to operate efficiently and have a greater impact. Broadly pointing out what the need of the hour is in the field of education for the low income communities.
