Abstract: This study compared the in-vehicle PM concentration for different passenger transport modes under different ventilation settings for two routes across Delhi. Comparison was done for AC and Non AC private car and bus. Among the different ventilation modes, the AC mode have least in-vehicle PM concentration whereas, the Non AC having the highest concentration. For different transport modes, car has least concentration and bus has the most. Comparing the two rotes of monitoring, route 1(Ring Road) being the ring road have high traffic density affecting the in-vehicle PM concentration. On the other hand, route 2 (Green Stretch) which has continuous green cover across have less in-vehicle PM concentration. The movement of heavy vehicles is restricted on route 2 contributing for its low PM concentration. ANOVA and t-test checked the significance for the PM concentration and the duration of travel. The significant difference was observed for PM1 and PM10; PM2.5 and PM10; PM1 and PM2.5 (p-value<0.05). The duration of day affected only the non AC vehicle where the difference across the means came out to be significant (p-value < 0.05). For all the modes of transport and ventilation condition the in-vehicle PM concentration is higher than the prescribed ambient standards for PM2.5 and PM10.
