Abstract: Foliar Nitrogen is one the key components related to plant health as it is a major component of
leaves in protein structures like chlorophyll, thylakoid proteins. The estimation of this nutrient
will help in the understanding the plant stress conditions. For this non-destructive spaceborne
hyperspectral remote sensing shows potential in estimating the N mass in leaves. Hyperion
images are able to predict Nitrogen content, which is achieved by indice calculations. The rededge
region has been explored for this purpose and has given good correlation. The Normalized
Red Edge index with linear regression model gives a R2
value of 0.89 for Shorea robusta (Sal
tree).
