Abstract: “A green building is not a luxury anymore or a style statement, rather a sensible option which
may appear to be a costly initially – but in the long run is easier to maintain and provides
savings. Though the intangible benefits of having a green building is brand building and market
differentiation as in the case of all ITC hotels which have been certified as LEEDS Platinum for
both existing and new constructions, it also makes business sense to divert funds from other
advertising gimmicks to a more sensible option.
As the citizens become more aware and sources of energy start becoming scarce and costlier, the
onus is on the profit makers who can lead the way for change by challenging the norms. The
early adopters and innovators are bound to gain as they would be able to focus on other areas, as
operational costs minimize. Any regulations in the near future or legal framework can also be
avoided as no mandatory investments would be required.â€
