The challenges associated with inequalities are extremely intimidating and have reached veritable proportions – the richest 1 per cent owned more than 70 per cent of the country’s wealth, as per recent estimation in 2017. These income inequalities are further exacerbated by degraded environments and stratifcation in society. India’s ratifcation of Agenda 2030, including SDG#10 on inequality, provides a great opportunity to reduce these gaps. In this regard, the is Department of Policy Studies at TERI SAS organizing a one-day conference titled “Reducing Inequalities in India by 2030: Challenges and Way Forward in Implementing SDG-10”. The event will bring together renowned academicians, bureaucrats, development organizations, faculty and students to reflect, understand and discuss the possibilities for sustained action towards this goal.
