Dr Livleen K Kahlon is an ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) professional with an experience of close to 25 years of work with a range of institutes, and also serves on advisory of national and international committees education and environment sectors. Her academic training includes a Masters in Botany and a doctorate in Traditional Ethnoecological Knowledge (TEK) (Research Title: Intergenerational Assessment of Traditional Ethnoecological Knowledge in Rural and Tribal Regions of Northern Odisha, India). She is a member of the ESD ExpertNet and IUCN's Commissions on Education and Communication (CEC) & Environmental, Economic and Social Policy (CEESP). Dr Livleen leads the Environment Education and Awareness program at TERI. Her earlier associations were with WWF-India and NISCAIR (CSIR) as Senior Program Officer, Popular Science Editor and Senior Researcher. She has to her credit several projects on environment and sustainable development issues (water, waste, air, climate change, energy transition, biodiversity, sustainability leadership, green skills), with a focus on:
- Trainings for students, teachers and communities
- Youth empowerment activities
- Resource material
Dr Livleen is equipped in rendering professional and technical support for engagement with youth around issues related to environment and sustainable development. She has carried out critical review and analysis of documents and reports related to environment education, youth empowerment and outreach, and popularization of scientific and environment topics. She has issued public statements and communications related to EE (Environment Education) and conceptualized stakeholders’ dialogues related to GEC (Global Environmental Citizenship).
