Abstract: The present assignment deals with the competitive intelligence system for small businesses which offers all types
and sizes of small businesses relevant market information and to design or modify a strategic plan.
The literature review covers competitive intelligence system framework also a review of the concept of strategic
intelligence, examines the nature, role and contributions of competitive intelligence as an integral element of the
overall strategic intelligence system, and gives a multi-step plan for the establishment of a small business
competitive intelligence system.
The objectives of the study are to understand the practices followed by the small businesses for specific
intelligence system. to build a model for Competitive Intelligence for small business. And to provide guidelines for
the development of competitive intelligence systems by small business owners.
The Methodology comprises of exploratory research methodology for the present study and has been adopted to
reflect these realties and help reach the logical conclusion in an objective and scientific manner. Primary and
secondary data has been used to carry out this research; primary data has been collected through direct
interviews and by raising questionnaires and designing sampling unit of Academicians, Market Experts, and
Small scale industrial houses. Location chosen was New Delhi for three months and the sample size of 150.
Analysis helped us to identify the role of competitive intelligence in the growth of small businesses and how much
they are using it compete in the market as well the awareness level of these types tools.
We conclude by discussing that small companies still do not give due attention to the importance of the
competitive intelligence. It also discusses the scope for future work in the area by way of incorporating different
MIS in this field.
