My major project focuses on advancing the sustainability initiatives of ITC Limited's food division, specifically targeting the B Natural brand of beverages. During my internship at the ITC Kapurthala facility, I conducted a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impact of B Natural products throughout their life cycle, from raw material acquisition to disposal.
Through this assessment, I identified key environmental hotspots, including raw material sourcing, manufacturing processes, distribution, and end-of-life management. I quantified greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and water usage, providing actionable insights to help reduce the product’s carbon footprint. My work also aligned with PAS 2060 standards by establishing a baseline for emissions, setting reduction targets, and exploring carbon neutrality strategies such as adopting renewable energy and optimizing transportation logistics.
This project has allowed me to contribute to ITC's vision of sustainability by framing a robust carbon neutrality policy and supporting efforts to achieve certification under the BSI Kitemark for Carbon Neutrality. The insights I provided aim to enhance the B Natural brand's market differentiation, while reinforcing ITC’s commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance excellence.
