Solid Waste Management is a real concern all over India. Efforts are being made by the Government of Indian to achieve a clean, healthy, and safe environment to live in. Swachh Bharat Mission was introduced in the year 2014 to achieve certain aims on various indicators to make all the cities open defecation free which was achieved by the year 2021 in almost every ULB. SBM 2.0 was launched on 2nd October 2021, with the aim of people first and various other components added to the previous years with sustainability as the main objective. In this study, efforts have been made in understanding the working and governance under the mission in Lucknow city and to highlight the major challenges faced by the ULB to achieve better ranking and administrative constraints. The study also highlights the best practices adopted by the ULB under the mission which is helping in keeping the city clean and safe. The newly added component for sanitary workers is also being studied and efforts are made to know the provision taken by Lucknow Nagar Nigam for the betterment and welfare of sanitary workers. Recommendations for better implementation and overcoming the challenges have also been provided in this study.
