After doing lot of research we have seen Assam has highest maternal and child mortality rate. It will be important to explore possible aetiology for such rates and implementation of interventions at all vulnerable stage for its reduction. The present study and research took place to understand attempt to find out the menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls in the rural villages of Dibrugarh and to explore the possibility of the need for health education intervention. Menarche is the most important event in the life of an adolescent girl. Health education can play important role for correct menstrual hygiene. This was basically a communit based cross – sectional study which was conducted in the month of August 2018, the sample size was 150 but it included 75 girls between 11-19 years of age from 10 villages of the district girls belonging to SC, ST, OBC, minority communities and family below the poverty line in Educational Backward Blocks. A questionnaire in local language was used as the study tool but I translated to English for my own convenient. Since girls are the mothers of future therefore along with formal education, knowledge and practices on menstrual hygiene is very essential. Therefore, the study was conducted to assess the awareness levels of adolescent girls of Dibrugarh district on the aspects of menstruation. The girls had the basic knowledge and know the do's and don‟ts during menstruation. Awareness among girls on issues related to sexual and reproductive health need to be created, emphasis may be given on various mass media, education and communication programmes.
