Abstract: Rapid industrialization and urbanization along with population rise and increase in vehicular density results in the air pollution in developing countries are some of the most important current challenges in the world. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has largely embraced as the panacea for the city of Delhi. The recognition of limited city infrastructure, increase of pressure on the roads, utilization of more and more private vehicles, air, soil, water and noise pollution has triggered the development of Phase 3 of DMRC Metro stations. But, this development of the metro network while the city is busy functioning would also be causing some adverse effects. This thesis reviews the Green Growth of the city, compares the existing phase 2 metro stations with phase 3 metro stations. In addition to this, builds a green building scenario for the DMRC stations in order to minimise the environmental impacts. Tools and methodologies used in the study relied majorly on the information collated from a city survey and semi-structured interviews. Based on the literature review and extensive field visits an attempt was made to find out the differences between the practices, construction and design of the metro stations of the two phases. These differences were listed out with the help of a checklist. Furthermore, recommendations were made to reduce the environmental impacts.
