TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) has been a pioneering higher educational institution in sustainable development education and research since its inception in 1998. With academic programmes in niche research areas and targeted studies in sustainable development, TERI SAS has the proud distinction of having academicians, researchers, scientists, and scholars who are deeply motivated about issues of sustainable development. Along with its parent institution TERI, TERI SAS has been involved in various prestigious research projects and academic activities tackling climate, food, and health security.
With academic and research focus on sustainable development agenda, TERI SAS firmly believes in serving its mandated role of educating, mentoring, and creating a cadre of professionals who are instrumental in bringing positive change in the socio-economic and environmental development agenda to enable India to reach the targeted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as per the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Having contributed through 2000+ strong and growing community of sustainable development practitioners, TERI SAS endeavours to widen its ambit of outreach through the TERI SAS Sustainability Fund. The objective of this fund is to encourage and promote scholarship in academic and research activities at TERI SAS. We, therefore, invite contributions to create the TERI SAS Sustainability Fund to support its quest to promote sustainable development. The contributions may be in any of the following five identified domains namely, awards, scholarships, grants, financial support for academic activities, and corporate and industry partnerships.
▴ Excellence awards in research and teaching.
▴ Merit awards for post-graduate students
-Excellence awards shall bear the name of the donor in their honor. These awards may be one-time or annual, based on the quantum of the contribution.
▴ Doctoral Scholarships
▴ Student Scholarships
-Doctoral scholarships shall be of a minimum three-year period that will cover the semester fee for the doctoral program at TERI SAS. Discipline-specific contributions are also allowed.
-Student scholarships for post-graduate studies at TERI SAS covering the program tuition fees
▴ Endowed Faculty Chairs
Endowed faculty chairs are our way of bestowing our immense gratitude to the reputed scholars for their contributions to Sciences and Society. The fund will cover the salary and research activities initiated by the faculty/fellow. Once the fund is received, TERI SAS shall constitute a committee of Professors, external experts, and the Vice-Chancellor (TERI SAS) to nominate the faculty chair.
▴ Infrastructure Development in R&D
Our research activities at TERI SAS are entirely supported by Extra-mural funds and through International/National funding agencies. Any contribution to the research and development activities shall be helpful in continuing our work unhindered. Contributions in this category shall be specific to the creation of infrastructure (laboratories and studios) for research purposes.
▴ Creation of Centres of Excellence
The centres of excellence create new opportunities and solutions to existing problems with respect to health, food, and climate security. The donors may initiate research activities at TERI SAS in the areas which they consider a high priority. The seed fund for the same would be provided by the donor. The Centres of Excellence shall be named as per the suggestions from the donor.
▴ Library Development Fund
The contributions to the Library Development Fund shall be meant for enriching our library resources including the purchase of books, journals, journal subscriptions, online databases etc.
▴ TERI SAS will be happy to partner with the corporates and industries thereby providing a bridge between academia and the industry/corporate worlds. Industry-specific research activities may be taken up as part of consultancy by the TERI SAS R&D units. These activities shall be entirely funded by the industry involved and the Intellectual Property Rights of TERI SAS are applicable to the outcomes of such funded projects. A specific Memorandum of Understanding shall be developed to sustain this industry-academia relation wherever applicable.
