Life Cycle Assessment is one such tool which can be used while designing the product so that its has minimal impact on the environment including contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. The course therefore was structured towards training the participants on the basic aspects of LCA, and how it can b e used by the industry to design a product with minimal environmental impact.
Sustainable Packaging for Circular Economy
The source on sustainable packaging looked at addressing the present problem of using low value plastics as packaging materials, looking at various plastic packaging alternatives like glass, paper, and bio based materials. Use of life cycle assessment approach to decide most suitable packaging alternative and also advantages and disadvantages of each of the plastic packaging alternatives. The advance phase of the course also covered kind of care which is taken while producing packaging intended to be used for packaging food items to avoid contamination.
