5th March, 2025 | 2 PM-3:30 PM | Casuarina, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi
About the event:
India has been a vocal player in international climate governance, and has announced national targets for renewable energy development and energy efficiency, as well as a net-zero emissions goal for 2070. At the same time, India is a signatory to Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and is thus obliged to implement its energy transition without negative effects for the attainment of other SDGs. In the INDGREEN project, we have investigated questions related to Indian just energy transition, namely India's role in international governance and partnerships of energy transition, and SDG trade-offs and synergies in implementing domestic solar power and energy efficiency policies. In this side event we present novel findings from our project, and discuss India’s role in just energy transition with prominent experts and practitioners.
